Meet The Governors

Our school is well served with Governors who bring a wide range of perspectives and an array of skills and experience to their work. In addition to Mrs Cameron and Mrs Newcombe, who are sharing the Headteacher role, there are various categories of Governor roles to which people are appointed or elected.

Currently our Governors are:

Parent Governors
Mrs Louisa Bostelmann - Curriculum & Standards, Resources & Personnel, HT PM Panel, Development & Training Governor
Mr James Raven - Resources & Personnel
Mr James Macleod
Mr James Robinson-Giannasi - Curriculum & Standards (Chair) & Pay Committee

Foundation Governors
Rev. Simon Butler - Curriculum & Standards
Mr Roch Garrard - Resources & Personnel, HT PM Panel
Mr Ron Lafferty - Curriculum & Standards, Pay

Staff Governors
Mrs Selena Cameron (Co-Headteacher)

Ms Sally Francis

Mr Jack Tyler-Whittle

The three core strategic functions of Governors are:

  • ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
  • overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent

Governors share the work of fulfilling these functions through an annual programme of meetings and activities. We hold an annual Governor Forum which is an opportunity for dialogue with Parents. On a more individual basis, Parents are welcome to contact the Chair via the School Reception.

Although our designated Parent Governors are elected, our constitution allows us to co-opt one or two additional parents, or other people, to meet our skills needs. We are also able to co-opt people onto the Governing Body on a short term basis, if they have a specific skill set we are looking for.  One of our current needs is someone who has experience of marketing and working with the media, so please do get in touch if you think you might fit the bill. We are able to access excellent Governor training from Hampshire County Council, so we don’t need volunteer governors to have a specific background in education or experience in governing - just the willingness and time to get involved!
