Outdoor learning is important to us all at Long Sutton and we are proud of the certificates that we have earned through the Hampshire ‘Trailblazer’ Scheme. Trailblazing activities enrich our curriculum throughout the school and all children have plentiful opportunities to get involved.
The scheme uses three complimentary activity strands which are discovering, exploring and caring for the environment. Discovering the environment involves taking our learning outside through curriculum linked activities. This could be anything from data collection and measuring in maths to poetry and adjective hunts in literacy.
Exploring the environment includes team building, problem solving, communication, key skills development and working together. Examples of caring for the environment could be growing plants to encourage wildlife, grounds days, allotment building and waste, water and energy management.
