Outdoor Education
We value and promote Outdoor Education as a golden thread within our school curriculum as learning outdoors is engaging, memorable, active and supports children’s mental health.
We aim to use the outdoor environment, both within and beyond the school grounds, to enrich learning in a range of subjects. We make good use of the Hampshire Trailblazer resource to support our outdoor learning opportunities.
The Hampshire Trailblazer scheme uses three complimentary activity strands: discovering, exploring and caring for the environment.
Discovering the environment involves taking our learning outside through curriculum linked activities. This could be anything from data collection and measuring in maths to poetry and adjective hunts in English. Exploring the environment includes team building, problem solving, communication, key skills development and working together. Examples of caring for the environment are growing plants to encourage wildlife and litter picking.
