Oracy Education
We value Oracy as a golden thread within our school curriculum as we want all our children to develop strong communication skills, learning to talk and learning through talk.
We provide opportunities for children to develop their skills in exploratory and presentational talk, developing the 4 key aspects of oracy: cognitive, linguistic, physical and social talk. We use the Voice21 Oracy Framework to promote and develop a strong pedagogical approach through staff training and a clear and progressive approach throughout the school. ‘No hands up’ strategies such as ‘Cold Calling’ and ‘Think, Pair, Share’ are a key feature in all our classrooms.
