Pupil Premium (PP)

Closing the educational gap between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged children nationally.

The Pupil Premium is additional funding for schools in England, to raise the attainment of all disadvantaged pupils, with the overarching aim of closing the educational gap between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged children nationally.

Pupil Premium categories:

  • FSM: Children who are currently entitled to free school meals due to families being on low income or receipt of certain benefits. Check eligibility at https://www.hants.gov.uk/educationandlearning/freeschoolmeals/juniorsecondary

  • Ever-6 FSM: Children who have been in receipt of free school meals for at least one term over the past 6 years

  • CLA: Children who are currently Looked After by the local authority (Local Authority Care)

  • Post-CLA: Children who have been adopted from Local Authority Care

Service Pupil Premium (SPP)

The Service Pupil Premium is designed to assist schools in providing additional support for children whose parents are in the Forces. This funding is used mainly to provide pastoral support during challenging times and to help mitigate the impact of family mobility or parental deployment.

Universal Free School Meals

All children in Reception and Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) are entitled to a free school lunch through the Universal Free School meals system; this is a different entitlement to Free School Meals (FSM) for disadvantaged children. We encourage families to check eligibility for FSM, even if their child is already in receipt of Universal Free School Meals, as registering for FSM provides additional funding for financial and educational support in school.

Full details of how we make best use of Pupil Premium funding can be found in our annual Pupil Premium statements.
